Savannah Dunn
Savannah’s choreography often explores feminist themes and integrates sound design and text. Savannah has received support from Surel's Place Artist-In-Residency Program, the Ann & Weston Hicks Choreography Fellowship at Jacob’s Pillow, and Carmel Dance Festival’s 2024 Dance & Choreography Fellowship Program.
Her innovative choreography has been generously funded and recognized by various institutions and presenting festivals throughout her career. Notable accolades include a Choreography Fellowship and funding through the Greater Columbus Arts Council and grant support from the Illinois Arts Council for her participation in Hubbard Street's Professional Program under the directorship of Alexandra Wells. The Boston Foundation's "Next Steps" grant program recently honored Savannah with funding and mentorship support to develop her most recent film "Silence".
Savannah has set work in numerous professional and pre-professional settings including Columbus Dance Theater’s Dancers Making Dances, Hubbard Street Professional Development Program’s Mid-Year Showcase, Butler University’s Dance Program for the Indianapolis Arts Festival, a commission for Deos Contemporary Ballet, and the LINK Audition Festival hosted by SALT Contemporary Dance. Her artistic interests extend beyond the stage, with her dance films showcased at renowned festivals such as Dancecentric Film Festival, Dance Camera West Film Festival, Greensboro Dance Film Festival, and Take Up Space.
Savannah's artistic journey has been shaped by invaluable mentorship from luminaries such as Dianne McIntyre, Risa Steinberg, Adam Barruch, Lillian Barbeito, and Alex Ketley. A Butler University graduate with Honors in Dance Performance, Savannah co-founded the Little Fire Artist Collective in 2020. Originating from Boise, Idaho, she spent transformative years in Chicago and Boston. She now lives in Berkeley, California where she teaches, freelances, and produces new works.
